Besides all the activities that are part of the Volunteer program, there are also a lot of things do when you are not working: • There are several game parks which you can visit. Besides having seen the two marine animals that make up the big seven, whales and sharks, you will hopefully be able to see the rest namely, elephant, lion, rhino, buffalo and the elusive leopard. These animals can be seen in different game parks. -- Seaview Lion Park is a nearby situated Game park which focuses on, of course, Lions. The Park boasts in excess of forty species of wildlife. Giraffe, Zebra, Wildebeest, Impala, Duiker and Monkeys roam free. Crocodile, Rock Monitors, Meerkat , Genets, Jackals, and Caracal (Lynx), are housed in camps and enclosures in the sanctuary areas. They are released into freedom if possible. For the really adventurous people there is also the opportunity to play with the baby lions. -- In Kragga Kamma Game Park there is a lot of game as well including White Rhino, Buffalo, Cheetah, Giraffe, Zebra, Nyala, Bontebok, Lechwe and many more species. All the animals roam freely, unrestricted in natural surroundings. This owner-operated animal friendly park, where no hunting or other disturbance of the game is permitted, means that you always get close up views and great photo opportunities. -- Addo Elephant National Park is the biggest of the three. The more than 450 elephants in the park are the main attraction, but you will also encounter buffalo, black rhino, warthog, eland, kudu and a variety of buck species. It is a very big and beautiful game park which you must visit! • Outing to Bayworld where you can see various things. There is an Oceanarium with dolphins, seals and penguins, a Snake Park and a museum. • Scuba Diving - Various courses are available on request at a price. We do have Scuba gear available for those who are already certified. • Port Alfred is a small town in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. It is situated on the eastern seaboard of the country at the mouth of the Kowie River, almost exactly half-way between the larger cities of Port Elizabeth and East London. The city enjoys a mild climate and award winning beaches, Kelly's beach has blue flag status, meaning it is one of the top beaches in South Africa. Port Alfred has many activities for visitors including fishing, diving, canoeing, waterskiing and tubing. Other sporting activities include golf, hiking, horse trails and surfing! • Seaview is also an excellent place from which to explore the Garden Route! The Garden Route is sandwiched between the Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma mountains and the Indian Ocean. Cities and towns to visit are, for example Plettenberg Bay, Knysna and George. Tsitsikamma National Park is also situated along the Garden Route. Walking with elephants is also possible in the Elephant Sanctuary. You can even ride the back of an elephant! • Further away but well worthwhile visiting is the Transkei where there are a a lot of Xhosa villages with their unique houses to give you an impression of what much of South Africa used to be. The famous Hole in the Wall can also be found in the Transkei. |
